Reading #1
The evolution of graphic design is important and knowing the stages to this evolution are critical to a new generation of designers. Learning where graphic design came from, who influenced it in the beginning, and why they did what they did are the basics to being a designer. Authorship claiming was not what the best minds were trying to achieve in the beginning, rather the idea of a withdrawal of the designers personality within the design piece. Design work was primarily focused on the design and solidifying an anonymous working space of the designer. As technology and software programs became available it made the design process easier, more artists came and began to claim a style of authorship. Design evolution is forever changing but it is up to us as designers to have the social responsibility to determine where design is headed and how the outside world views good graphic design.
